Civil Defense personnel at the Rashaya al-Fukhar center succeeded in reopening the Rashaya–Mari road after an Israeli airstrike on Friday evening had blocked it with rubble and dirt.
The crews worked on the ground using pickaxes, shovels, and their bare hands to clear the damage and reopen the road to citizens’ traffic, in a scene that reflects the scale of the challenges facing rescue and service teams in the border areas.
The road has now become passable in both directions, restoring normal movement to the town and facilitating residents’ travel, especially since the Rashaya–Mari road is considered the vital main artery linking the town of Mari to the Hasbaya area. It also constitutes the town’s only outlet amid the inability to pass through the Khiam side due to the situation.
