President Joseph Aoun received Environment Minister Tamara Elzein, who presented him with the environmental impact report on the Israeli attacks on Lebanon (2023–2025), titled “Steering the Course Toward Post-War Recovery of Lebanon’s Ecosystems: Understanding the Challenges and Looking Ahead,” which will be presented during today’s Cabinet session.
For his part, Aoun thanked the Environment Ministry and the National Council for Scientific Research for their efforts in preparing this report, which constitutes a fundamental pillar for incorporating environmental recovery into the broader integrated recovery path.
Aoun also received Beirut Port Chairman and Director-General Marwan Nefai. Following the meeting, Nefai outlined the progress of work at Beirut Port, particularly the measures taken during the war period to ensure continuity of operations, including extended working hours and the preservation of supply lines for the national economy.
Nefai pointed to the measures taken to raise the operational level and capacity of Beirut Port, as well as a 120 percent increase in revenues compared with the same period in 2025, despite the difficult circumstances the country has gone through.
He also stressed the measures aimed at enhancing security and safety standards at the port in implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
