The following statement was issued by the Future Movement:
The Future Movement denounces, and categorically condemns, the cheap and suspicious tactic of inserting its flags into the protests being carried out by Hezbollah supporters in front of the Grand Serail, in a rejected attempt to suggest that the movement is part of them.
The Future Movement’s position is firm and unequivocal in rejecting any affront to the office of the Prime Minister and in standing behind it, given what it represents as a national and constitutional position and a red line that must not be violated or used as a platform for settling political scores. It considers that any insult to this position is an insult to the Lebanese state and all its institutions. While the Future Movement holds the parties organizing these protests fully responsible for repeating such suspicious acts, it calls on them to stop this manipulation immediately. The Future Movement also recalls its clear and explicit position in the past, when it rejected the use of images of the martyred President Rafik Hariri and President Saad Hariri in the illumination of the Raouche Rock, considering at the time that exploiting national and political symbols in propagandistic, factional, or seditious contexts is unacceptable and condemned. It is the same position that it reiterates today in rejecting the use of the movement’s flags outside their natural place: the defense of the state and its institutions, and of legitimacy and the constitution, far from all forms of chaos and encroachment on national offices.
