Employees in most of the administrations at Sidon Serail observed a warning strike in response to a call by the Association of Public Administration Employees, protesting the non-payment of the increases approved by the government last February.
The move came after Finance Minister Yassine Jaber announced the inability to pay the dues amid difficult financial conditions and the current security situation, sparking employees’ discontent and prompting them to resume their protest actions.
The strike included the majority of departments, with employees refraining from receiving citizens’ applications, except for the labor, health, and civil registry departments. The labor department continued processing transactions tied to specific deadlines, while the health department kept following up on displaced persons’ affairs and providing the necessary services, in addition to administering vaccines to pilgrims. As for the civil registry department, it continued operating as usual while considering the possibility of joining the strike the following day.
