
French Foreign Minister, in official remarks, emphasized the need for immediate steps to ensure the security of both Lebanon and Israel, stating:
"We have called for Hezbollah’s activities to stop and for its weapons to be handed over to guarantee the security of Lebanon and Israel."
The minister added that the Lebanese army must act decisively, stressing:
"The Lebanese army must take all measures to disarm Hezbollah in accordance with the government’s decision."
Regarding potential military escalation, the French official highlighted his country’s stance on the humanitarian risks, noting:
"I confirmed to the Israelis that the humanitarian cost of a ground operation in Lebanon would be high."
He pointed out that the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is connected to the broader regional dispute with Iran, saying:
"The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah should not be separated from the larger conflict with Iran."
The minister also noted the support of European and Asian leaders for the French initiative in the region, affirming:
"European and Asian leaders share our call to establish an international mission to facilitate transit through the Strait of Hormuz."
He continued by urging the Iranian regime toward settlement and peaceful coexistence, stating:
"The Iranian regime must accept major settlements to have a peaceful presence with its neighbors and allow its people to choose their own destiny."
The minister concluded by stressing the importance of action and not retreating, saying:
"There is no simple way out of this conflict, but it should not be an excuse for inaction."
