According to sources close to the Grand Serail speaking to Al Jadeed TV, President Salam’s visit to Washington has been postponed and is expected to be resumed later, with open lines of communication maintained with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The sources indicated that President Salam’s continued presence in Lebanon is aimed at following up on the implementation of the security plan, stressing: “preventing sedition and the exploitation of the streets by any fifth column during a sensitive period that does not allow misjudgment by opportunists.”
The same sources also emphasized that the postponement of the trip is not related to the ceasefire track or ongoing negotiations, noting that the visit had been previously scheduled and included several stops in addition to the United States.
