President Joseph Aoun received former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt, along with party head MP Taymour Jumblatt, where they reviewed the overall situation in the country.
Following the meeting, Walid Jumblatt said:
The President’s inaugural speech is based on a truce and international resolutions, which constitutes a starting point for any potential negotiation path if needed.
Thanks to everyone involved in managing the sheltering file, with an emphasis that more efforts are required at this stage.
The battle may be long, but the priority is to end the crisis as soon as possible.
Salute to the Lebanese Army, and we are surprised by any attacks against it in the midst of crises.
Our duties at this stage are dialogue, internal security, and addressing the issue of displaced people.
We call for adopting prefabricated housing as an alternative to tents to improve shelter conditions.
