The head of the parliamentary Education Committee, MP Hassan Mourad, along with MPs Bilal Al-Hashimi and Ashraf Baydoun, conveyed to President Joseph Aoun the “concerns and fears of a broad segment of the educational community, particularly students who are facing difficult security, social, and psychological conditions across various Lebanese regions.”
Mourad said after the meeting: “We were honored, as a delegation from the parliamentary Education Committee, to visit the President of the Republic, where we presented our objective observations regarding the mechanism adopted by the Ministry of Education for conducting the official examinations. We stressed the need to take into account the exceptional circumstances students are going through, in a way that preserves their safety and guarantees their right to education and to sit for exams under fair and secure conditions.”
He added: “We handed the President a memorandum containing our observations and proposals on the proposed plan, stemming from our commitment to protecting Lebanon’s unity and preserving the stability of the education sector.”
He continued: “We informed the President of the Republic that the parliamentary Education Committee will hold an expanded consultative meeting tomorrow with the various components of the educational community to continue discussing the required steps.”
He concluded: “We are counting on a positive response to these demands and proposals, given that they represent a national and educational priority at this delicate stage.”
