The Free Patriotic Movement issued the following statement:
It is clear that Minister Joe Saddi is in a state of confusion, denial, and ignorance regarding everything the Movement initiated in terms of plans and follow-up during its tenure at the Energy Ministry. Saddi tried to erase the Movement’s efforts to reactivate the Kirkuk-Tripoli pipeline because he could not find answers to respond to what MP Farid al-Bustani had demanded.
Therefore, to refresh the memory of Saddi and his political team, we recall that despite the war that broke out in Syria in 2011 — which Saddi deliberately ignored — the Energy Ministry at the time contacted the Iraqi government on this matter, and its written response was that this was not feasible under wartime conditions.
The Energy Ministry at the time did not stop proposing alternatives, but instead moved to demand the Arab Gas Pipeline. However, the Lebanese Forces and others opposed the project in Parliament, which contributed to obstructing all solutions.
The Movement calls on the Energy Minister to take advantage of the favorable conditions today to restart the Kirkuk-Tripoli pipeline and find real solutions to the electricity crisis, wishing him success in implementing projects instead of seizing credit for achievements, shifting responsibilities, and fleeing forward.
