Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan wrote on his personal account on X: "Talk of forcibly disarming the resistance is political nonsense and reflects naivety beyond all naivety. Lebanon can only be governed through accord and consensus, and our political system is fragile to a degree beyond imagination. As for our national unity, which fortifies any decision, it is unfortunately completely absent, and this is what frightens me most and must be heeded...
The ceasefire we are living through is owed first and foremost to the negotiations that took place and are taking place in Pakistan between the United States and Iran. Let us be humble and stand together, and let us entrench familiarity, محبت, and cooperation among all components of the country. Let us grit our teeth through the wounds, wherever they come from, and not volunteer gratuitous positions that bear no relation between ambition and wishful thinking on the one hand and the ability to implement on the other.
Finally, let us follow the saying of our forefathers: when states disagree, protect your head. And let us acknowledge the facts no matter how bitter they may be, even if they often do not please some people. The truth remains the truth no matter how much we try to deny it, and we have no power to change it in any way.
After all this, nothing limits any loss except our internal unity above all else."
