Rubio: Iran negotiations are ongoing, and a settlement is tied to Hormuz and the nuclear program

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that any initiative put forward by France and the United Kingdom regarding the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz would be effective only if a ceasefire is reached.

Rubio added that the United States does not need assistance regarding the Iranian file, but that if any help is offered, it will be accepted.

In a related context, he pointed to progress in the talks concerning Iran, considering that the road has not yet reached its end.

He also stressed that Washington is seeking to reach an agreement with Tehran that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and abandoning the Iranian nuclear program.
