Port of Beirut enters the digital era... Launch of electronic payments through 7 financial platforms to speed up transactions and enhance transparency

The Port of Beirut Management and Investment, headed by Chairman and Director General Marwan al-Naffi, signed cooperation agreements with Neo, affiliated with Bank Audi, OMT, Whish Money, BoB Finance, MTM/Ria, and NetCommerce, marking the official launch of the electronic payment service within the port.

The new service allows those dealing with the port to pay fees electronically through a wide network of financial institutions and payment centers, providing easier and more flexible options, reducing the time needed to complete transactions, and raising operational efficiency while enhancing security and transparency across various procedures.

The agreements were signed during an official ceremony held at the Port of Beirut, attended by representatives of the participating companies and financial institutions, in parallel with the actual launch of the electronic platform, following the completion of technical tests and confirmation of the readiness of the systems and payment channels.

Al-Naffi stressed that adopting the electronic payment service represents a pivotal milestone in the modernization of the Port of Beirut and reflects the administration’s commitment to developing services through the use of the latest technological solutions adopted globally in port management.

He explained that this step comes within an integrated digital transformation plan that includes upgrading administrative and operational services, positively impacting the experience of port users, improving performance efficiency, and entrenching the principles of good governance and transparency, thereby strengthening the Port of Beirut’s position as a modern facility capable of keeping pace with the requirements of trade and maritime transport.

Al-Naffi concluded by emphasizing that digital transformation is no longer an option but a necessity, noting that the Port of Beirut Management and Investment will continue implementing development projects aimed at modernizing its services and enhancing its competitiveness in the coming phase.
