Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Sunday called on European Union member states to take the step of ending the Association Agreement with Israel, stressing that it is not possible to continue dealing with a government accused of violating international law and the principles of the bloc.
Sánchez said in a post on the platform X that this position is not directed against the Israeli people, but rather reflects opposition to the policies of the current government, in his words.
His statement read:
"The time has come for the European Union to end the Association Agreement with Israel. We bear no grudge toward the Israeli people — quite the opposite. But a government that violates international law, and therefore the principles and values of the European Union, cannot be a partner for us."
