China has held the United States and Israel directly responsible for the disruption of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, considering that the military strikes targeting Iran are the main cause of the ongoing tensions in this vital waterway.
At a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that “the illegal military operations carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran have led to the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” stressing that these developments threaten the stability of global trade and energy supplies.
The Chinese position came in response to statements by U.S.
President Donald Trump, who had called on countries importing oil through the strait to move to take control of it, secure it, and use it in a way that serves their interests.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important maritime corridors in the world, as a large share of global oil supplies passes through it, making any escalation in the area a source of widespread international concern.
