Jumblatt: Ceasefire is a first step… and the solution lies in separating Lebanon from Iran and returning to the 1949 armistice

Jumblatt told An-Nahar, commenting on the ceasefire:

A good start, but we do not want an agreement similar to the many agreements in Gaza.

Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese people, but its decision lies in Iran. It sees the destruction that has taken place, and we must understand it and engage it in dialogue.

Lebanon’s file must be separated from Iran, the terms of negotiation improved, and there must be a return to the 1949 Armistice Agreement, with possible additions.
