
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Saturday in the city of El Alamein, the players of the national football team along with members of the technical and administrative staff, honoring the team in recognition of the distinguished performance it delivered during its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the president awarded the team’s players and members of the technical and administrative staff the Cup of Merit and commemorative decorations, in appreciation of the high technical level, fighting spirit, and discipline they demonstrated during the global competition.
During the meeting, El-Sisi praised the level displayed by the national team, saying it presented an honorable image of Egypt’s youth and helped bring joy to Egyptians through its commitment, teamwork, and determination to achieve the best possible results.
The president stressed the importance of launching an advanced system for discovering young sporting talent, underscoring the need for "impartial scouts" who work free from any considerations other than selecting the most talented and deserving players, while providing full support to promising talents and giving them the opportunity to develop, alongside backing the national technical staff.
He noted that investing in talent represents a fundamental pillar for building the future of Egyptian sport and strengthening its presence on the international stage.
