
The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces — Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
As part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Internal Security Forces to combat various types of crime, a patrol from the Beirut Investigation Unit of the Beirut Police Unit, on 14-5-2026, arrested two individuals caught in the act in the Cola area while attempting to steal a motorcycle. They are:
T. T. (born in 2005, Lebanese)
Y. J. (born in 1992, Syrian).
It was also found that the first suspect is the subject of four arrest warrants and a wanted notice for crimes of armed robbery and theft.
Upon searching them, two loaded military pistols ready for use were seized in their possession, in addition to a knife, which they had been using to carry out their criminal operations and terrorize citizens.
During interrogation, they confessed to forming an armed gang and carrying out a series of armed robberies and motorcycle thefts in a number of areas in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, including Khaldeh, Raouche, Ramlet al-Baida, Damour, Dora, Saadiyat, Jnah, and others.
They also admitted to using multiple criminal methods, most notably:
- Provoking altercations with motorcycle riders in order to force them off their bikes and steal them.
- Robbing passersby of cash and mobile phones at gunpoint.
- Stealing motorcycles belonging to delivery workers and displaced persons.
Investigations also revealed that they were active within an organized network involved in stealing motorcycles and storing them inside a warehouse in the Sabra area, in preparation for selling them and dividing the profits.
The two detainees, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authority for the necessary legal action against them, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects involved.
