Zamalek were crowned champions of the Egyptian Premier League after defeating Ceramica 1-0 in the match held between the two sides at Cairo Stadium in the final round.
Palestinian striker Oday Al-Dabbagh scored Zamalek’s goal in the eighth minute of the match.
At the start of the second half, Chikobanza added another goal for Zamalek, but German referee Sasha Stegemann disallowed it for a foul on Ceramica defender Ragab Nabil.
The excitement increased when the referee awarded a penalty to Ceramica, taken by Ahmed Belhaj, but Mohamed Awad succeeded in saving it.
Zamalek raised their tally to 56 points to top the league standings, clinch the league shield, and confirm their participation in next season’s CAF Champions League.
