The Municipality of Majdelya, in collaboration with Jungle Gym Fitness Center and the Lebanese Nature Conservation Association, organized the Droob Al-Hima event, combining physical activity, environmental awareness, and local heritage, set to the iconic song by Fairuz, “The Grape Seller and the Little Grape Girl.”
The event featured walking and running trails through the village’s natural surroundings, accompanied by awareness stations highlighting the importance of forest and plant preservation and environmental sustainability. The initiative aimed to integrate sports with environmental consciousness while encouraging community participation in protecting nature.
Mayor of Majdelya, Mr. Louay Faisal Matar, delivered a speech on behalf of the municipal council, emphasizing the resilience and vitality of the Lebanese people despite challenging circumstances. He praised initiatives that blend culture, nature, and sports, and extended Easter greetings, wishing peace and love to all.
The event also included a historical recounting of the song “The Grape Seller and the Little Grape Girl”, which tells the story of a girl kidnapped by gypsies from beneath the “Majdelya Walnut Trees,” the site where participants were welcomed, now the location of the Majdelya Public School. This added a cultural and heritage dimension to the event.

The activities brought together participants of all ages, who enjoyed the sports challenges, explored the local environment, and listened to heritage stories linking the past with the present, creating a fully immersive experience that combined culture, sports, and nature in a single day.
