The Barouk area in Chouf is preparing to host a distinguished cultural and artistic event with the launch of the “Barouk Film Festival” on August 7, under the patronage of the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Information, and Environment, and in cooperation with the Shouf Cedar Reserve, Farmville Barouk, and Destination Shouf.
In a statement, the festival committee affirmed that the event represents a space where the seventh art, Lebanese identity, and nature come together, as it seeks to transform the cultural scene in Chouf into a platform that supports independent cinema and young talent, while strengthening the presence of local film production.
The committee noted that the festival aims to open the door for filmmakers, young directors, and students of audiovisual disciplines to showcase their work and engage with audiences and those interested, in addition to supporting promising cinematic talent and highlighting the cultural and natural heritage that distinguishes Lebanon.
The festival also carries an environmental and developmental dimension by linking cinematic creativity to issues of environmental protection and sustainable rural development, in an effort to use art as a tool for dialogue and awareness and to underscore the value of natural and heritage areas.
The committee pointed out that the new edition enjoys the participation and support of a number of local partners and media institutions, enhancing the festival’s presence and ensuring coverage that matches the importance of the event, which aspires to cement its place as an annual cultural occasion that brings together cinema and nature in the heart of Chouf.
