The Progressive Socialist Party’s Media Commission issued the following statement:
“MP Hadi Abou Al Hassan, secretary of the Democratic Gathering bloc, was subjected to an attack with a military-grade weapon while carrying out a social duty in the town of Qbayaa. However, he succeeded in overpowering the assailant and neutralizing him before he could carry out his plan, then continued his social duty before leaving the scene calmly after matters returned to normal.
Accordingly, the PSP places this fabricated attempted killing in the hands of the judicial authorities and security agencies to determine the real motives behind it.
The PSP calls on the security agencies to deal firmly with any security breach that threatens civil peace, stressing the need for calm, restraint, and awaiting the official investigations.”
