
Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of Minister of Social Affairs Hanine El Sayed and Head of the Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Grand Serail, Zahi Chahine.
The meeting addressed the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and ways to strengthen cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union in the fields of relief and emergency response, in light of the continuing Israeli attacks and their humanitarian repercussions.
Lahbib affirmed the European Union’s continued support for Lebanon, particularly in the field of humanitarian aid, stressing the importance of maintaining coordination with the relevant Lebanese authorities.
For his part, Prime Minister Salam thanked the European Union for its continued support for Lebanon and praised the existing coordination with the concerned parties, underscoring the importance of bolstering international support for the humanitarian response and for assisting the Lebanese state in confronting the current challenges.
Salam also received Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, with talks focusing on the situation in the south, efforts to consolidate the ceasefire, and the security situation in Beirut.
He also received the Governor of Mount Lebanon and head of the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Authority, Judge Mohammad Makkaoui, and discussed with him preparations for the launch of Hajj flights.
