Truck drivers and owners staged a sit-in on the Dahr al-Baydar road at the Falougha junction, protesting what truck owners have been subjected to in terms of arbitrary pursuits, detentions, and daily pressure, amid the absence of any serious state action to address the quarry and crusher file.
The protesters called for the release of impounded trucks, an end to selective enforcement of the law, and for drivers carrying proper legal documents not to be harassed. They also held the state responsible for regulating this sector instead of leaving drivers alone to bear the consequences of the prevailing chaos.
Participants stressed that their movement is peaceful and civilised, aimed at defending the livelihoods and dignity of thousands of Lebanese families who depend on this sector as a primary source of income.
