The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces — Public Relations Division — issued the following statement:
Following the announcement of a ceasefire, heavy gunfire was recorded in a number of neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs, in addition to the firing of rocket-propelled projectiles.
The specialized units of the Internal Security Forces immediately began field measures to identify those responsible for the gunfire and work to track them down and arrest them, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against them based on the instructions of the judiciary.
The General Directorate stressed that it will not tolerate pursuing anyone who disrupts security and public order, and called on citizens to refrain from firing weapons under any circumstances, given the danger this scourge poses to public safety.
