Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Brigadier General Ahmad Hajjar, stated from Baabda Presidential Palace:
I am closely following all developments with the President of the Republic, particularly on the security level, and I briefed him on the measures being taken by security forces across all regions.
We are working to ensure increased security presence throughout all Lebanese areas.
The President has issued directives to reassure the public and protect citizens; there is no refuge for the Lebanese except the state.
We discussed the issue of the Masnaa border crossing, and contacts are ongoing. We hope to reopen it soon.
Municipalities have a key role to play, requiring further effort and coordination with the Internal Security Forces, the army, and intelligence services.
The President is concerned with both Christian and non-Christian villages, and the security forces stand alongside those who remain steadfast. Continuous communication is underway to spare the Lebanese further crises.
