
The German Research Centre for Geosciences announced that a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck northern Chile, east of the city of Calama, noting that it occurred at a depth of 89 kilometers.
The center explained that it had initially estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.5 before later revising it.
