Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, speaking from Baabda Palace:
“I had the honor today of meeting with His Excellency President Joseph Aoun and conveyed a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirming Egypt’s full solidarity—leadership, government, and people—with Lebanon during these difficult circumstances.
Egypt strongly condemns the daily Israeli violations that affect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and emphasizes the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese lands.
We confirmed Egypt’s readiness to meet all of Lebanon’s needs, and we brought with us a shipment of humanitarian, medical, and food aid to support the Lebanese people, particularly the displaced.
The internal displacement crisis is a major concern, but we have confidence in the resilience of the Lebanese people and in maintaining civil peace in the face of these challenges.
I also conveyed Egypt’s full political and diplomatic support for Lebanon, as Cairo is making intensive efforts with various regional and international parties, including the United States and France, to reduce escalation and halt attacks.
We reaffirm our complete rejection of any ground incursions and Israeli violations that contravene international law, and we call for their immediate cessation.
Egypt continues its communications with all parties, in an effort to achieve a ceasefire and prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos.
We stressed the importance of supporting the Lebanese state and its institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese Armed Forces, to enforce state sovereignty and ensure that weapons remain under its control.”
