
The Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Port of Beirut, Mr. Marwan Al-Nahfi, received yesterday, Monday, the adviser to His Excellency the President of the Republic for anti-corruption affairs, lawyer Raymond Helo, in the presence of the head of the State Security office at the Port of Beirut, Lieutenant Colonel Staff Joseph Al-Naddaf.
The meeting was devoted to discussing the measures and procedures adopted by the Port of Beirut’s management and investment authority in the field of combating corruption. Emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening internal oversight mechanisms, entrenching the principles of transparency and accountability, and strictly enforcing the applicable laws and regulations, in cooperation and close coordination with the State Security apparatus.
The discussion also addressed the results of joint work during the recent period, which led to qualitative achievements in combating corruption and safeguarding public funds, in a way that enhances the confidence of citizens and institutions in this vital facility. It was stressed that continuing the approach of accountability and preventing violations constitutes the foundation for re-establishing this trust.
For his part, Mr. Helo praised the efforts being made, stressing the need to continue cooperation and coordination between the port administration, the State Security apparatus, and all relevant parties, in a manner that ensures the proper functioning of administrative and financial work within the port and contributes to restoring its role and standing at the regional and international levels.
