
Free Patriotic Movement leader Gebran Bassil received a delegation from the Greek Catholic League headed by Consul Gaby Abou Rajili, in the presence of MPs Nicolas Sehnaoui and Ghassan Atallah, as well as former MP Eddy Maalouf. During the meeting, discussions focused on the general situation in the country, particularly in light of the political and security developments following the ceasefire agreement, in addition to the challenges facing Lebanon at various levels. The participants stressed the importance and necessity of Lebanon’s unity across its full 10,452 square kilometers, in a way that protects its land, people, and resources.
Bassil underscored the importance of preserving national partnership and balance, stressing the need to strengthen the role of all Lebanese components, particularly the role played by the Catholic community in national life.
For its part, the delegation reviewed the league’s conditions and activities, and affirmed the importance of activating the Catholic presence in public affairs, while emphasizing the need to preserve the Lebanese identity and the diversity that distinguishes society.
