Lebanese political sources told Al Arabiya Al Hadath that the US administration is considering imposing new sanctions that could include security and administrative officials in the Lebanese state, against the backdrop of accusations related to facilitating the activities of what is known as Hezbollah’s “Unit 900.”
According to the sources, the relevant US authorities are following files linked to the Council for the South, involving suspicions over the payment of salaries to individuals affiliated with the party, in addition to accusations related to contributing to the establishment and outfitting of military facilities in the south and the western Bekaa.
The information also indicated that the investigations include a file related to the use of some facilities at the Lebanese University by “Unit 900,” amid continued US scrutiny of the logistical and administrative support networks linked to the party inside official and unofficial institutions.
