U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is beginning an official visit to the Italian capital, Rome, from May 6 to 8, as part of a diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with both Italy and the Vatican.
Rubio is scheduled to hold meetings with the leadership of the Holy See, during which developments in the Middle East will be discussed, alongside files related to shared interests in the Western Hemisphere, within the context of broader political and diplomatic coordination.
The visit also includes meetings with Italian officials to discuss shared security issues and to enhance strategic cooperation between Washington and Rome on a number of regional and international matters of mutual interest.
