
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that his country will continue to play an active diplomatic role in containing regional tensions, stressing the importance of consolidating the calm and enhancing the chances of stability in the Middle East amid the escalation between the United States and Iran.
The Prime Minister's Office said Sharif told the cabinet that communication channels with Tehran remain open, noting that Pakistan's recent diplomatic moves had contributed to extending the ceasefire between the two sides.
He also revealed that the talks hosted by Pakistan on April 11 lasted for about 21 hours, describing them as a "marathon meeting," and stressing that Islamabad had made intensive and sincere efforts to support regional stability, with the participation of a number of senior officials, including Defense Minister Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
