The Forecasting Department at the Meteorological Service of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation expected Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin to be affected by warm, dust-laden air masses originating from Egypt, leading to a marked rise in temperatures, exceeding seasonal averages. Their impact is set to intensify tomorrow, Thursday, with temperatures surpassing 30 degrees on the southern coast in particular, amid hazy conditions. The effect will begin to recede from Friday afternoon, as the region comes under the influence of a low-pressure system centered to the north and gradually approaching, bringing unstable weather with muddy rainfall and a noticeable drop in temperatures back to seasonal norms. Its impact is expected to continue until Monday afternoon, when the weather will stabilize again.
Expected weather in Lebanon:
Wednesday: Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with high clouds, while humidity remains low and temperatures rise noticeably to around 5 degrees above seasonal averages. Winds will become active, reaching nearly 55 km/h, carrying layers of dust that will reduce visibility.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with high clouds and hazy, dusty conditions causing poor visibility. Winds will intensify to around 55 km/h, with a further rise in temperatures, exceeding 30 degrees on the coast. Clouds will thicken from the afternoon, and scattered muddy rain will fall over inland areas.
Friday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with medium-level clouds, while temperatures remain high during the day. Humidity will rise amid hazy and dusty conditions leading to poor visibility. Temperatures will gradually decline from the afternoon, clouds will thicken, and fog will form over the highlands. Scattered muddy rain is expected, accompanied by lightning, thunder and active winds that may at times intensify to 70 km/h, causing wave heights to rise.
Saturday: Partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy, with a marked drop in temperatures returning to seasonal averages. Fog will form over the highlands, and scattered rain is expected, with a chance of lightning and thunder during the morning period. Rain will ease in the afternoon, with broad clear spells developing during the day.
Surface winds: Northeasterly, with speeds ranging between 10 and 35 km/h, becoming active in the afternoon up to 55 km/h, especially in the south of the country.
Visibility: Moderate, worsening at times due to dust.
Relative humidity on the coast: Between 30 and 55%.
Sea conditions: Moderate wave height.
Sea surface temperature: 19°C.
Atmospheric pressure: 1015 hPa, equivalent to 761 mmHg.
