Afrah Al-Zouba, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, submitted a request to the World Bank to enable Yemen to benefit from crisis response instruments and financing for conflict-affected countries, allowing for the acceleration of job-creation projects and the strengthening of institution-building, in addition to supporting the debt treatment process in coordination with the International Monetary Fund.
This came during her participation in the meeting of World Bank governors for the Middle East and North Africa region in Washington, where she stressed that Yemen is among the countries most affected by conflict and least able to recover, calling for broader international support to include economic shocks and supply chains, with expectations of achieving positive results at the upcoming Spring Meetings.
