Diplomatic sources in Washington told Watan Press that the Lebanese delegation is preparing to present a set of points during the anticipated meeting with the Israeli side tomorrow, as part of efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire and reducing tensions along the southern border.
According to the information, Ambassador Simon Karam will present to the Israeli delegation a commitment from Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri stipulating a ceasefire on Hezbollah’s part, provided that Israel reciprocally commits to halting military operations.
The Lebanese delegation will also reintroduce the draft "Declaration of Intent," on which no agreement was reached during the previous round of talks, while working to formulate a comprehensive paper acceptable to both sides.
In the same context, expectations indicate that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio may attend the anticipated Lebanese-Israeli meeting at the U.S. State Department headquarters, reflecting the importance of the current round and direct American interest in the course of the negotiations.
