Prime Minister Nawaf Salam told Asharq Al-Awsat that “we are experiencing a destructive war imposed upon us, causing human and economic losses that threaten the future of our generations.”
He emphasized that “no one negotiates on behalf of Lebanon except the Lebanese state.”
Salam added, “We are facing a critical phase, and safeguarding stability requires a clear vision, bold decisions, and genuine cooperative work between the state and society.”
He continued, “Lebanon is going through one of the toughest periods in its modern history, as a destructive war has been imposed upon us. This reality came at a time when we were working to chart paths out of a deep financial and economic crisis that began in 2017 and has remained without a fundamental solution.”
