Authorities in Bangladesh have saved a rare albino buffalo named "Donald Trump" from being slaughtered as an Eid al-Adha sacrifice.
The buffalo drew widespread attention on social media because of the light-colored tuft of hair on its head, which users likened to the hairstyle of the US president.
The buffalo, which weighs about 700 kilograms, had already been sold for ritual slaughter, according to Reuters. However, Bangladeshi Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed personally intervened and ordered that the animal's life be spared, with the buyer to be refunded and the buffalo transferred to the National Zoo in the capital, Dhaka. So instead of being slaughtered, the buffalo is set to live under protection at the zoo, in a story that has become one of the most talked-about in Bangladesh on the eve of Eid al-Adha.
