
Foreign Minister and Emigrants Youssef Rajji received a phone call from Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, during which they discussed regional developments and the general situation.
During the call, the Austrian minister stressed her country’s support for Lebanon’s choice to move toward negotiations, affirming Vienna’s readiness to provide whatever is needed to ensure the success of this track. She also noted that “Austria is ready to contribute to the success of any future formula that the Lebanese government may propose as an alternative to the UNIFIL forces.”
For his part, Minister Rajji outlined Lebanon’s vision for the negotiations set to begin early next week, which is based on three main objectives: consolidating the ceasefire, securing Israel’s withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory, and extending state authority over the entirety of its land. He also called on Austria to exert pressure on Israel to halt its attacks, while at the same time praising its support for the displaced and its humanitarian contributions.
