
Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar confirmed, following a meeting of the Central Security Council, that security incidents related to the displacement movement remain limited and are under monitoring and follow-up. He noted that security agencies are carrying out their duties, including monitoring conditions in hotels and rented accommodations.
Hajjar stressed that the responsibilities of the Ministry of Interior and the security forces include accompanying the displacement movement and tightening security measures. He affirmed that prosecutions and arrests will continue in the event of any security breach, adding that the state is making every effort to maintain stability.
He explained that during the meeting, security agencies reviewed the measures currently in place and discussed ways to further develop them on the ground in order to ensure a minimum level of security despite the difficult circumstances facing the country.
Hajjar also pointed out that Lebanon is facing significant pressure due to the displacement of a number of people who wish to remain in Beirut, stressing that the state is working to manage these pressures and closely follow up on the issue.
He called on the Lebanese people to act responsibly and avoid any reactions that could lead to internal tensions, emphasizing that national unity remains the main source of strength in confronting crises.
Hajjar added that daily meetings are being held at the Grand Serail with the Prime Minister and ministers to follow up on developments. He urged the Lebanese people to stand behind the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Parliament in support of efforts aimed at leading Lebanon out of the current crisis.
