CNN, citing U.S. officials, reported that former U.S. President Donald Trump insisted on adopting tougher wording regarding Iran’s nuclear commitments, in addition to including pledges related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz in any potential understandings.
In the same context, CBS, citing an informed source, said that the amendments Trump introduced to the memorandum of understanding were described as somewhat substantial, although their details were not immediately available.
The source added that there is currently no deadline or specific timeframe for reaching an agreement on the Iranian file.
The leaks also indicated that Trump expressed reservations and concern over the scale of the financial gains Iran could secure if an agreement were concluded, amid ongoing discussions over the conditions and balances tied to the nuclear file.
