The media department of the Lebanese Forces party issued the following statement:
We had barely begun to believe that President Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government had succeeded in securing a ceasefire, even if only temporary, as a gateway out of the hell into which the axis of resistance had plunged Lebanon and the Lebanese people, when we were surprised, the moment the decision came into effect, by the outbreak of another kind of front in Beirut’s southern suburbs, marked by heavy gunfire and even rocket-propelled shells fired in various directions, in celebration of the “victory that had been achieved.”
We are now left bewildered: have we simply lost track of what is happening?
Or has what remains of Hezbollah completely lost its mind?
We have been unable to understand what victory they are talking about: is it the roughly 2,300 Lebanese who were killed, or the nearly 8,000 wounded and injured?
Or the dozens of villages, including around twenty villages completely destroyed, hundreds of other homes destroyed, and thousands of residential apartments rendered uninhabitable?
Or the one million displaced Lebanese?
Or the territories where the Israelis positioned themselves to a depth of nearly 10 kilometers, from Naqoura and Bayyada, through the western, central, and eastern sectors, all the way to Mount Hermon?
This is aside from the economic losses, preliminarily estimated at $10 billion.
What we witnessed yesterday at midnight was a major farce whose chapters we will continue to live through one after another, unless the deep state in Lebanon moves and implements the sovereign political decisions taken by the government.
