Interior and Municipal Affairs Minister Ahmed Hajjar delivered a speech at the opening of the Arab Interior Ministers Council:
Lebanon assumes the presidency of this session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council at a critical and pivotal time for our Arab nation, which requires a higher level of coordination and integration than ever before.
He continued: “We reaffirm our rejection of anything that could threaten civil peace in our Arab societies or seek to undermine their stability through terrorist or illegal destructive activities.”
Hajjar noted that Lebanon is facing destructive Israeli attacks as part of a war imposed upon it, which it has sought to avoid by all possible means, emphasizing Lebanon’s legitimate right to protect its land and people.
He added: “We affirm that the security of our countries is a shared Arab responsibility, and our constant cooperation is the way to confront dangers, whatever their source, while preserving the safety of our societies and their right to stability and development.”
Hajjar concluded: “Lebanon looks forward to the support of its Arab brothers and the international community to end this unjust war, remove the Israeli occupation from its land, respect its full sovereignty, and back the Lebanese government’s decision to extend its authority over all its territories solely with its own forces.”
