Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri sent a cable to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, offering condolences on the death of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, recalling his journey and his role in serving the State of Qatar, as well as his supportive positions toward Lebanon.
The text of the cable read: "With greater acceptance and submission to the will of Almighty God, His irreversible decree, and His mercy that encompasses all things, and with feelings of sorrow and sympathy, we received the news of the passing of His Highness Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him. You bid farewell to him and lose him as a father and a towering figure who loved and devoted himself to the State of Qatar for the sake of its progress, stability, and the flourishing of its people."
Berri added: "We will always remember him as a friend and a balm to our wounds, a generous hand that united and supported, and as a word, deed, and steadfast موقف alongside Lebanon and the Lebanese in their peace, stability, unity, and revival at a time when support was scarce."
He concluded: "Your Highness, in my name and on behalf of the Parliament, I extend to you, to the entire esteemed family, and to the brotherly Qatari people my deepest condolences and sympathy, asking Almighty God to grant us and you great patience and solace, to admit the great departed into His vast gardens of Paradise, to bless you with abundant health and well-being, and to grant the State of Qatar and its brotherly people lasting security and stability. Sufficient for us and for you is His Almighty saying: 'Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.' God Almighty has spoken the truth. Please accept our highest expressions of condolence and sympathy."
