Official sources told LBCI that the Lebanese state has not yet received any information regarding what the Lebanese front could come to if an agreement is reached between Iran and the United States, noting that Beirut welcomes any understanding that could lead to a comprehensive halt to the war in Lebanon and an end to military operations in the south.
The sources added that if any international agreement includes a ceasefire, Lebanon would in practice already have entered a truce phase that had previously been extended for 45 days following the latest round of negotiations in which it participated, despite Israel's failure to abide by its terms.
They stressed that the Lebanese state has made its clear decision to negotiate on its own behalf and independently, away from any other track, underscoring its rejection of treating Lebanon as a bargaining chip in the hands of any party.
The sources also pointed out that some parties are trying to link the Lebanese arena to the Iranian-American negotiations, while the Lebanese state insists on separating the tracks and consolidating its sovereignty in managing the negotiation file.
The sources concluded by affirming that any ceasefire agreement in Lebanon would constitute support for and reinforcement of the previous agreements reached within the framework of diplomatic efforts.
