The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, reported that former U.S. President Donald Trump is exploring a range of scenarios to address Iran’s nuclear file, including the possibility of a ground operation aimed at seizing approximately 450 kilograms of enriched uranium.
According to the report, Trump has shown openness to military action as a means of recovering these materials if diplomatic efforts fail, while stressing that Iran must not be allowed to retain any nuclear materials.
Sources also indicated that Trump has instructed his advisers to intensify pressure on Tehran to hand over its stockpile of enriched uranium as a key condition for ending the conflict, alongside conducting a comprehensive assessment of the risks such a ground operation could pose to U.S. forces.
In this context, Trump has also discussed with allies the option of using military force to confiscate Iranian uranium should negotiations collapse.
