Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss the latest developments and changes Lebanon is witnessing at the current stage.
During the call, the Egyptian minister affirmed his country’s support for Lebanon and its full backing in confronting the current challenges, stressing Cairo’s commitment to the necessity of a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and its rejection of any violation affecting Lebanon’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, considering this a clear breach of international law and of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
According to the official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Abdelatty stressed the importance of strengthening Lebanese state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese army, in a way that enables them to carry out their role in enforcing state authority and extending sovereignty over all Lebanese territory.
The Egyptian minister also affirmed that restricting arms to the hands of the state constitutes a fundamental element in consolidating security and stability in Lebanon, renewing Egypt’s support for the choice of the Lebanese state and its institutions, and its commitment to protecting the interests of the Lebanese people and strengthening the foundations of national stability.
