Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, announced a decision to freeze his country’s relations with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, against the backdrop of what he described as an undeclared decision-making process related to placing Israel on a “blacklist” linked to sexual violence in conflict zones.
In a video message posted on the platform X, Danon said that “dealing with this secretary-general is over,” signaling an unprecedented escalation in Israel’s stance toward the United Nations.
In the same context, the Israeli mission clarified that this freeze means suspending official communication with the Secretary-General’s office until the end of his term, scheduled for December 31, 2026, reflecting growing tension in relations between the two sides.
