The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the following statement:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterates its categorical condemnation of the blatant Iranian attacks against the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and several Arab and Islamic states.
The continued targeting by the Islamic Republic of Iran of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its sovereignty, civilian objects, civilians, economic interests, and diplomatic premises in the Kingdom constitutes a clear violation of all relevant international charters, principles of good neighborliness, respect for state sovereignty, the Beijing Agreement, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026). This runs counter to Islamic brotherhood and the values of Islam, which the Iranian side frequently cites, highlighting the discrepancy between their words and actions.
As emphasized in the statement issued by the Ministry on March 9, 2026, the ongoing Iranian attacks represent further escalation and will have significant impacts on current and future relations.
Accordingly, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has notified the Military Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Kingdom’s embassy, the Assistant Military Attaché, and three other members of the diplomatic mission to leave the Kingdom and has declared them persona non grata.
They are required to depart within 24 hours.
The Kingdom affirms that it will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security, defend its territory and airspace, safeguard its citizens and residents, and protect its assets and interests, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.”
