
Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, received the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh, in the presence of the Parliament Speaker’s advisor, Dr. Mahmoud Berri. The meeting addressed the latest field and political developments resulting from the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
During the meeting, Berri praised the efforts and initiatives undertaken by France and its President, Emmanuel Macron, to stop the Israeli war on Lebanon, stressing the importance of adhering to the October 2024 agreement and working within the framework of the “Mechanism Committee” as a practical negotiation tool, in addition to ensuring the return of displaced persons to their villages.
Berri emphasized the need for full compliance with the agreement and underlined that Lebanon’s stability and protection of its territory remain national priorities, while keeping diplomatic channels open to follow up on international efforts.
For his part, the French Ambassador stated after the meeting: “We will continue our efforts and work to resolve the issue,” reaffirming his country’s support for all steps that ensure Lebanon’s stability and the implementation of international commitments.
