U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to hold talks between Lebanon and Israel, in a move reflecting a new diplomatic push amid regional developments.
In a post, he said:
“Talks will be held Thursday between Lebanon and Israel.”
He added: “We are trying to provide some breathing room between Israel and Lebanon, and it has been a long time — about 34 years — since two leaders from Lebanon and Israel spoke together.”
Trump noted in his post, published this morning Washington time (Wednesday night), that “the talks will take place tomorrow,” meaning they are expected within hours, later on Thursday.
